How to maintain a tattoo?
After tattooing, the tattoo artist has done 50% of the work, and you will have to do the other 50% yourself, by properly maintaining the tattoo according to the instructions given in the tattoo studio. With proper treatment, a tattoo heals on average in 7 days. Within those 7 days, you will have to wash the tattoo, keep it clean and apply ointment to speed up the epithelization of the skin (healing). Also, if you engage in some activities where you sweat too much, you will need to minimize those activities. The instructions vary from person to person, it depends on which part of the body the tattoo is on and it depends on the environment in which the person spends most of his time, such as whether the person works or spends time in conditions where there is a lot of dust, or there is increased humidity and temperature or he does office work, etc. The instructions should be strictly followed, otherwise the tattoo will be visibly of lower quality when it heals.
Tattoo maintenance instructions
Approximately 2 hours after tattooing, remove the foil from the tattoo and start the tattoo maintenance treatment as follows.
Before any tattoo treatment, wash your hands!
Wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and pH neutral soap !!!IMPORTANT!!! all the old fat should be thoroughly washed off the tattoo, pat the tattoo dry with a paper towel (you must never use toilet paper or paper tissues as a substitute for a paper towel) and apply a thin layer BEPANTHEN MASTI This procedure should be applied 5-6 times a day (every 3-4 hours, except while you sleep) for the next 7 days, i.e. until the tattoo heals. Wash the tattoo once a day.
In some cases, it is necessary to protect the tattoo with foil (nylon foil for wrapping food) if you are in contact with dust or dirt. Wearing the foil for too long can cause redness of the skin, irritation and the appearance of pimples, therefore, after each washing and treatment with Bepanthene, the tattoo should be kept exposed to the air for at least fifteen minutes.
During the healing period, it is necessary to wear clean and comfortable cotton clothes. After healing, the skin in the area of the tattoo will be wrinkled and dry, this is normal because with the above-mentioned treatment you have accelerated epithelization (healing) several times, therefore do not treat the tattoo with anything else (smearing with Bepanthene, creams or body milk) but let the skin develop its own natural moisture and elasticity.
Until the tattoo heals, pay attention to the following:
- You must not immerse the tattoo in water, swimming pool, river, lake or sea is not allowed for 7 days after tattooing.
- Bathing in the bathtub (must protect with foil).
- Dust, oil, alcohol, chemicals and the like must not get on the tattoo.
- The tattoo should be oily all the time.
- You must not expose the tattoo to UV radiation (sunbathing, solarium) for 2 weeks after the tattooing.
- Avoid intense sweating and sports for 7 days after getting a tattoo.
- Avoid using a sauna for 10 days after getting a tattoo.
